Job Search 101 – 3 Places to Get Career Advice and Assistance
When it comes to finding a new job, the task will never be an easy one. However, it isn’t something that you have to face alone. Take the time to check out all of the different options that you have and figure out which jobs would be best suited to your particular needs. It doesn’t matter how much or how little you know about finding a new job, because there are resources out there that can help. Never sell yourself short by trying to do it alone when you don’t have to. Here are three great places to look for assistance in your new career search:
-Job Services Departments: These offices are usually offered by your city and/or county to help with job placement and learning job skills, including resume writing skills and interview tips. You can find a variety of resources here, and the information about one near you is as close as a local phone book. If you are receiving unemployment, the information is generally included with your paperwork to help you out along the way.
-Community Colleges: What a community college has is access. They have access to courses on interviewing and job hunting, seminars on various career topics from time-to-time, and a community learning center where anyone can learn, often for free, about a variety of things. Not only that, but you might even be able to get some insight on which careers are best for you or realize that you have found something worth going back to school for.
-The Internet: There is a whole world of information and resources right in front of you. That’s right. The internet isn’t just for games and emails anymore. You can find plenty of information (like this article, for example) about jobs and employment right from the comfort of your computer chair. You don’t have to waste a lot of time figuring out what you want and need and going out to find it, because it’s all right here when you’re ready to learn.
Finding the right resources to help you on your job search is going to be critical to your success. Some people do better on their own than others, but no one should ever feel like they don’t have options when there are actually so many out there to choose from. Take the time to figure out what you want in your job search, and then go out and see what these different resources have to offer you in the way of helping you choose and find the job that you want. In this economy, people need all the help that they can get, and this is just one way to get it.
